I still remember watching the Infinity Nikki trailer during Gamescom's Opening Night Live in 2024. It was a cheerful, slightly bonkers musical number, and it promised a world where fashion could literally save the day. The carnival-esque theme song stuck in my head for weeks. Cute, round creatures bounced across the screen. Momo, Nikki's companion cat, was there too. There were chickens with bulging eyes, and a magnificent crystallized bird that looked like it could be a legendary PokΓ©mon. I was hooked before I even understood how the game played.

At that 2024 event, Infold Games also announced that players could once again enter Miraland during an upcoming closed beta on mobile. The beta did not have a start date yet. Pre-registration pages on Google Play and the App Store displayed an expected release date of Dec. 31, 2024, but an Infold Games representative told Polygon that date was a placeholder. From my 2026 perspective, that placeholder was exactly that. Infinity Nikki launched in December 2024, and the mobile closed beta was only one early step in a much bigger journey.

Infinity Nikki is an expansion of a franchise that already had four games on mobile, including Love Nikki and Shining Nikki. Those two games largely centered on creating and battling through fashion. You defeated opponents by earning points for meeting different objectives, like creating an outfit that was cute or elegant. A story played out ahead of the classic dress-up gameplay. I loved that loop, but Infinity Nikki changes the genre in a way I did not expect.

Instead of staying purely in dress-up battle arenas, Infinity Nikki is an open-world adventure game more akin to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild than Roblox's Dress to Impress. Notably, Breath of the Wild game designer Kentaro Tominaga is leading development on Infinity Nikki. The game was first announced in 2022, almost 10 years after the franchise's first game, Nikki Up2U: A Dressing Story. It resurfaced again at Sony Interactive Entertainment's State of Play broadcast in May 2024. By 2026, I can see how those early reveals set the stage for a stylish, exploration-driven experience.

Fashion is still a huge part of the game, as Nikki's outfits are what power her abilities. I think of her wardrobe as a toolbox. One outfit lets her glide through the air. Another makes her teeny tiny so she can fit inside a small cavern. There is a getup for fishing in crystal rivers. There is even light magic combat, and a dress for that. But Infinity Nikki's gameplay seems centered more around exploring, platforming, and puzzle-solving than around combat.

Outfit purpose Ability
Gliding Soar through the air
Shrinking Fit into tiny caverns
Fishing Catch fish in crystal rivers
Combat Light magic attacks

Throughout it all, Infinity Nikki appears to be staying true to the Nikki franchise. It's only fashion (and Nikki) that can save the world. That line sounds silly, but after spending time in Miraland, it feels sincere. The game mixes whimsy with genuine adventure.

Now, in 2026, I still log in for new events, banners, and story chapters. The closed beta on mobile eventually led to a full launch, and the game has continued to receive updates. I have explored Miraland on different devices, and the experience remains surprisingly cohesive. The fashion system is deeper than I expected. Every new outfit can change how I approach a puzzle or a platforming challenge. Sometimes I put on a dress because it is cute. Sometimes I put it on because it lets me reach a hidden ledge.

Here are the things that keep me coming back:

  • πŸŽ€ Fashion as gameplay: outfits unlock traversal, puzzle solutions, and combat options.

  • 🐱 Momo's companionship: the cat adds warmth and humor to every journey.

  • 🧩 Puzzle-platforming: the game is not just dress-up; it asks me to think and move.

  • 🌍 Open-world exploration: every hill, cave, and crystal river invites curiosity.

  • ✨ Light magic combat: battles exist, but they never overshadow the adventure.

  • 🎢 Musical moments: the carnival-esque tone song still makes me smile.

As of 2026, I would describe Infinity Nikki as a rare blend of cozy fashion, open-world discovery, and lighthearted fantasy. It respects the history of Love Nikki and Shining Nikki while pushing the franchise into a bigger genre. The Gamescom 2024 trailer was my first glimpse. The mobile closed beta was my first invitation. The full release was my doorway. And now, years later, Miraland still feels like a place where I can be stylish, curious, and heroic all at once.

Year Milestone
2022 Infinity Nikki first announced
May 2024 State of Play reveal
Aug 2024 Gamescom trailer and mobile closed beta announcement
Dec 2024 Global launch (placeholder date was Dec. 31)
2026 Ongoing updates and new Miraland content

I do not know every corner of Miraland yet. That is part of the fun. I will keep collecting outfits, solving puzzles, and following Momo into whatever strange, beautiful place comes next. If fashion can save the world, I want to be dressed for the occasion.
